The aim of this article is to study neutralizations used by marketing practitioners to justify unethical pro-organizational behavior. We analyze the narratives of 17 practitioners in two controversial sectors (alcohol and tobacco). Three sets of arguments are used: moralization of the professional activity through the virtuous organization, denial of responsibility due to an over restrictive law, and economical rationalization.

We study one original case: the design of the specifications for a Collective & Connected Home for seniors, namely an innovation at the boundaries of two institutions: the Home and the Retirement house.
