Crisis is not a new concept. It has long existed in the literature on organizational theories and management, particularly in theories that examine the relationship between an organization and its environment. A crisis can be understood as a sudden and unpredictable event that increases uncertainty and ambiguity within a given organizational context. Managing a crisis therefore represents a major challenge for an organization, as it can jeopardize its operations or even lead to organizational paralysis if appropriate capabilities and mechanisms are not deployed.
