Recently, ensemble-based machine learning models have been widely adopted and have demonstrated their effectiveness in bankruptcy prediction. However, these algorithms often function as black boxes, making it difficult to understand how they generate forecasts. This lack of transparency has led to growing interest in interpretability methods within artificial intelligence research. In this paper, we assess the predictive performance of Random Forest, LightGBM, XGBoost, and NGBoost (Natural Gradient Boosting for probabilistic prediction) on French firms across various industries, with a forecasting horizon of one to five years. We then apply Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP), a model-agnostic interpretability technique, to explain XGBoost, one of the best-performing models in our study. SHAP highlights the contribution of each feature to the model’s predictions, enabling a clearer understanding of how financial and macroeconomic factors influence bankruptcy risk. Moreover, it allows for the explanation of individual predictions, making black-box models more applicable in credit risk management.

The increasing impacts of climate change and extreme weather events have amplified the importance of supply chain resilience. This study focuses on creating a framework to strengthen supply chain endurance and contribute to ongoing discussions around resilience. A mixed-method approach is adopted, starting with qualitative research to identify key components of endurance, followed by an empirical analysis of its connection to supply chain and community resilience. Bien que le développement de villes durables suscite un intérêt croissant, il subsiste un important déficit de connaissances concernant les choix logistiques concrets nécessaires à leur réalisation. Fondée sur une recherche ethnographique sur la logistique urbaine, cette étude examine comment les prestataires de services logistiques (PSL) relèvent les défis de la durabilité au sein de l'écosystème urbain, tout en répondant aux exigences d'efficacité de leur écosystème commercial. En repositionnant les prestataires de services logistiques comme un sous-écosystème imbriqué dans l'écosystème urbain plus large, l'article démontre comment les prestataires de services logistiques abordent habilement les complexités de l'environnement urbain et répondent aux pressions de leur écosystème commercial. Cette étude améliore considérablement la compréhension des enjeux sous-jacents qui affectent la durabilité de la logistique urbaine. Elle approfondit le concept de la logistique urbaine en tant que sous-écosystème au sein de l'écosystème urbain, en soulignant comment sa durabilité est liée à la structure de l'écosystème urbain. Du point de vue sociétal, cette recherche conceptualise la logistique urbaine comme une activité commerciale et un service social vital qui soutient le bien-être urbain. Les résultats suggèrent qu'il est nécessaire de poursuivre les recherches sur le rôle des acteurs de la logistique urbaine en tant que contributeurs clés de la durabilité urbaine.
