Some indicators have <strong data-start=\"264\" data-end=\"288\">strategic importance<\/strong>; these are known as <strong data-start=\"309\" data-end=\"346\">Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"351\" data-end=\"587\">Dashboards are created and used either at the <strong data-start=\"397\" data-end=\"417\">department level<\/strong>, as part of <strong data-start=\"430\" data-end=\"443\">reporting<\/strong>, or at the <strong data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"477\">company-wide level<\/strong>, as part of <strong data-start=\"490\" data-end=\"514\">strategic management<\/strong>. In the latter case, they are referred to as <strong data-start=\"560\" data-end=\"584\">strategic dashboards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"589\" data-end=\"879\">They help to address <strong data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"643\">two limitations of accounting<\/strong>: the <strong data-start=\"649\" data-end=\"687\">lag between information and action<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"730\">narrow focus on financial data<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"734\" \/>Dashboards are very flexible because there is <strong data-start=\"780\" data-end=\"803\">no legal obligation<\/strong> to implement them.
