This article proposes a development of the Service Dominant Logic (SDL) in the case of service relationships with vulnerable populations on the basis of a qualitative study conducted in a geriatric ward. This study reveals, on the one hand, care practices governed by representations of the « deficient » elderly patient, and on the other hand, care practices irrigated by representations of the « capable » elderly patient. These practices suggest differentiated roles assumed by caregivers, reflecting graded levels of patients’ involvement in the care relationship.
